Thumb Watch 2014: Update

So, 72 hours have passed and it's time to rewrap!

So dry, dry blood... and it was very stuck. I had to use saline to get it unstuck.
So, it's only 4 stitches. 3 on the left ad 1 one the right. I could see that the nail was a bit off from the skin and the thumb had swollen up a bit. However, there is feeling everywhere on my fingers so, no damages to the nerves.

It could have been worse. Everything could be worse. Broken bone would have been worse. I had thought my thumb may have been more bruised due to the force of the hit. It seems the healing is on schedule.

So now, I wait another few days... I won't be playing hockey this weekend.

Thumb Watch 2014

What a way to end your slo-pitch season.

It is the last day of the season for playoffs. We won the quarter final game and now for the semi-final game. We win. We play in the final. We lose. We hit the booze for a fine season.

6th inning... left handed batter... ground ball... I went to get the ball. It hit me. Some how, I knew something didn't feel right but I finished off the play. I looked at my thumb and saw blood. I instinctively ran off the field screaming "call the ambulance!"

I got first aid on the spot but it was bad enough that I went to the hospital. So after 3 hours, I received 5 or 6 stitches and a permanent thumbs up.

The good news is there were no broken thumb. The issue is now doing things either with one hand of with my left hand. Luckily, I am ambidextrous. I am able to do things with my left hand, except my writing looks like a 5 year old... It could have been worse. Just need to rest up and heal.

So, things that I have been doing with either left hand or one-hand...
- shower... it was difficult and weird. It's not using the left hand part, it's the one hand part. It's definitely awkward
- computer... using the mouse isn't weird. It's the typing with one hand. I can use my right hand but the giant thumb gets in the way...
- driving... more dangerous then weird. I have only used my right hand as balance
- eating... the most difficult part is chopstick with left hand. I can use chopstick in my left hand but the awkwardness when you're at table. It's also muscles that I don't use often in my left hand

So far, that's what I've encountered... We'll see what tomorrow brings...

Fan Expo 2014

So, it's another year and another "will I be going or not?"

My first reaction was wait and see. After hearing that another con will have Lost Girl guest, it was unlikely any Lost Girl cast will be in Toronto... *buzzer sound* Wrong.

My initial reaction was a bit of a surprise and disappointment. This year's Lost Girl guests were Paul Amos, Rachel Skarsten, Anna Silk and Kris Holden-Ried. To be honest, it's not a bad line up... but really, you want the whole cast... Alas, Lost Girl wins again...

First, they had announced Ted Raimi and Bruce Campbell. You know, Joxer and Autolycus from Xena? Then I saw Trish Stratus and Amy Dumas from WWE... Then I saw Jason David Frank, whose game is Tommy, the Green Ranger but he had to cancel.

Still, I wasn't sure if I really wanted to know. Yup, Lost Girl won... So, I bought the one day pass. I didn't get any autographs or pictures this year but the Fan Expo has been so over crowded and they keep over selling the event that once you get in, DO NOT LEAVE THE BUILDINGS!

But hey, how about some pictures?

And then Aaron Ashmore...

Now, the Lost Girl Q&A starts at 4:30 but... they were already lining up at like 2pm... Yes, 2.5 HOURS BEFORE THE EVENT STARTS! WE ARE SOME CRAZY PEOPLE!!

I'm checking to see if the video is available... right now, the video is on private. But in the mean time, tweets from the events were available here.

Of course, I will include pictures.

We were given THIS teaser to start. This is a scene from season 5... Tamsin... cheerleader? What's not to love? Here is a great line from this scene:
Tamsin: Gimme a D! Gimme a Y! Gimme a... suck my balls!"

All I have to say is Priceless, Classic, Tamsin!

I don't even know how to recap this... As you already know season 5 will be the last season. They talked about what will happen in season 5 and the themes will be family. A lot of the emotions from season 4 (Hale and Kenzi's death) will carry over and will affect them differently.

There will still be character development... but I think we got distracted by Rachel's choice of clothing... it looks like Star Trek...

Just in case it's not clear... here's a close up!

Because it is the last season, each member was asked what they would take with them when the show ends... There were non-Lost Girl related questions... in a Zombie attack, who would not survive... Paul quickly answered Rachel is clumsy and Anna's too nice which I have to say it's true.

We then had some twitter questions... What show do you want to see a cross over with Lost Girl. Somehow, Orange is the New Black was mentioned... Kris screamed "there's no part for me in the show."

Anna does sincerely love the fans. She got emotional and got weepy. Kris chimed in "the show wouldn't exist without you. Thank You!"

The Q&A ended with a selfie.

But how about we see it from the other angle. I'm not sure if it came from Paul or Rachel's phone but does it matter? It is awesome!
Quite a few of us (12 to be exact) had dinner together. It's always nice to catch up with friends you've made. Lost Girl has been a worldwide phenomenon... We had an Aussie at our table who did come to Canada for this event.

Hopefully I can get the video link for you. But for now, pictures and words are the best I can do.

Unlock Blackberry for Free

Well, I'm mostly doing this so I remember for next time...

First, go this this page and follow the instruction on finding the MEP code. And once you get the MEP code, go to this site and paste the MEP code along with the IMEI. Once you click calculate, you'll get this message:

Mep2(NCK) THIS IS YOUR UNLOCK CODE: 00000000

Mep4 YOU MAY NOT NEED THIS CODE: 00000000

Depending on which network you're with, you may need to type in both codes

So, how to enter the fabulous unlock code now?

Option - Device - Advanced System Settings - Sim Card

You should see just "SIM Card" menu and it should show ID and your telephone number. Now type MEPD and the menu should expand. What you want to look at is the "SIM" portion. It should say either "Active" or "Inactive." If your phone is still carrier locked, you should see "Active" and if it's unlocked, then "Inactive."

Now the fun part! Entering the code! Type "MEPE" and a small window pops up with "Enter Network MEP Code." This is where you enter the MEP2 code you got.

Go Blackberry! Be Free!

Fan Expo 2013

Well, another Fan Expo has come and gone. Seriously, I was not planning to go this year. I thought hard about it. I considered going for just one day on Saturday for Gina Torres (loved her in Hercules and Xena. Yes, those shows and not Firefly), Karl Urban (Hail Caesar!) and Dean Cain (Superman!!).

Then...

Someone, with a week to go, decided to put a Q&A panel for... Lost Girl (what? again?), The Listener (WHAT??) and Covert Affairs (WHAT?!) - 3 shows that I have been watching only a weekly basis. I would have died if they had tossed in Once Upon A Time and Rizzoli & Isles!

Speaking of Rizzoli & Isles, I am so sad to hear about the passing of Lee Thompson Young. From what I read, he seemed to be genuine, loveable guy. And to hear that he was in a deep depression and took his own life is very tragic and shocking. Please, if you have any friends that are feeling depressed, talk to them or get them help. If you have no one to talk to, please go to Canada Suicide & Crisis Hotlines. You will be missed Lee.

Back to Fan Expo...

Skip ahead to

Lego
Lost Girl
The Listener
Covert Affairs

Once I saw the announcement for the 3 shows... and spread out over 2 days, I had to buy the tickets but which one to buy. I could get just Saturday and Sunday. Or I could get Deluxe for the weekend. Or I could get the Premium. Decisions, decisions, decisions. I ended up getting the Premium pass with a tshirt, reusable bag and a comic. Also, the premium pass allows me to use priority entrance and enter other Hobby Star events up to July 2014.

Interestingly, I could have attended Thursday but forgot my pass at home. So, I did not go after work. However, I did bring it with me on Friday, so I went after work and spend 2 hours and mostly looking for swags. And swag I did! I grabbed a bunch of posters over the weekend. It included Walking Dead, Call of Duty, God of War and some others then will likely be recycled... but the one that I got and wish I grabbed a few more of is this:

The unfortunately part is, after Friday, they did not have any of it left. Nor did they have Lost Girl or Covert Affairs poster available! Darn it.

Every year at the Fan Expo it's about the costumes but I guess I didn't care this time. It seems always be the similar things, the super hero, the cartoon anime and this year, there were a lot of Assassins... as in Assassin's Creed game series. I did see a Bomberman... and Chewy!

And Fan Expo wouldn't be the same without Legos... GIANT Lego pieces...

And now... Lost Girl

I get a feeling that Lost Girl will be returning 2014... because when I got there, there was already a line up. The Q&A did not start til 12 noon and luckily my friends were already waiting in line... at 10am... No joke.

I will just save typing and just give you the Q&A thanks to @Faenonymous However, I will share some photos cause they're fun. But the highlights of the Q&A?

- KC getting picked on... again
- Kris showing us how Rachel threw the boomerang
- Rachel coming back at Kris for "I am an animal" with kids around
- calling Zoie Palmer
- George Takei!

After that was autographs... they did a lottery system this year which kinda sucks... I did get something signed by Rachel :)

In the afternoon, it was off to The Listener but it's autograph first!

Rainbow is such a funny guy. He got out of his seat and decided to stand in the line pretending to be a fan and then yelled "Hurry up! I want my autograph!"

s There were highlights from the Q&A. The best part is the story twist to have Michelle get pregnant and the baby looking like Dev...

Unfortunately, it does not looks like anyone has a video of the Q&A... maybe picture helps?

After the Q&A, the cast did a bit more signing... I walked pass Lauren Lee Smith and said Hi again! She is so awesome!

So that ended my Saturday. I went out to dinner with fellow fae friends. It's always nice to see them again. You meet so many people and you build friendships with them. I now have friends in Boston, Montreal, and France. There was this one fan who came from Italy just for the Lost Girl. Yes, we definitely need to get a Lost Girl only con going! Go! Follow! Like!

For Sunday, it was Covert Affairs. It was really the only thing left to do. I recorded the Q&A... I should really invest in a tripod... I held my little camera for the whole 36min Q&A and yes, my arms were tired but it seemed they got more of a work out then anything...

Unfortunately, I was not able to get an autograph (lottery again)... I am not going to even get into it...

How about we end this post with some more pictures?

Does anyone need to make a phone call??
And "Standee Anonymous" or the Gathering of the Standees...

Well, 2014 will be 20th anniversary of the Fan Expo... I'm sure they're going to expand again... and possibly toss in Lost Girl (again)... and if that's the case, you can be sure I will be there.
